Sea2see, The Eyewear made from Sea Plastic

It’s been said that by 2050 oceans will have more plastic than fish and marine wildlife. Discarded fishing nets represent over 10% of all plastic marine pollution, and they are one of the main causes of ocean contamination and deaths.

For this reason, we created Sea2See, an elegant and sophisticated line of sunglasses made of fishing nets recovered from various ports in Spain, that would otherwise contribute to the contamination in our oceans.

This is a product that can be seen, that anyone can purchase and wear with pride, because it’s more than just a sustainable product, it’s a statement for change made by the people who wear them.

Sea2See was also created to break the nefariously contaminating tradition of the sunglasses’ manufacturing industry, where circular economy and sustainability are practically nonexistent, and price monopoly is king.

We discovered a way to reduce marine pollution, by means of manufacturing a high value-added product from recycled plastic, fishing nets and other waste that pollutes the coasts of Spain. We recycle and transform these elements into premium sunglasses.

Our products are more than just sunglasses, they’re a statement of principles. Sea2See is creating awareness on the importance of protecting and preserving our oceans. Our sunglasses may not change the world, but the people who wear them will!

If we study the sunglasses industry, we will discover that 85% of the market is controlled by only one company. This fact prevents two things: on one hand, it prevents sunglasses’ prices from coming down, and on the other, it discourages the industry from avoiding polluting manufacturing practices. As an alternative, we aim to provide premium sunglasses at reasonable prices, so anyone can be a part of our sustainability revolution!

Sea2See was created by François van den Abeele, a father and entrepreneur who feels passionately for nature and the ocean. He is a firm believer that consumers around the world are becoming increasingly aware of the need to be more environmentally responsible and committed to the ecosystem.
